Chico

EEECo Chico is a blog site to provide information and share ideas and solutions to explore, promote, and develop sustainability in northern California, specifically in Chico and the surrounding bioregion. Without addressing our energy usage and production; our local and regional economy; the use, conservation, preservation, and restoration of our environment and the natural resources; and the culture, community, and society we live in, in a sustainable manner we will continue to circle the drain.

Sustainability is not about doing with less, its about doing more with just what is needed. It is, as William McCullough says, “about fecundity” and it is about prosperity and local self reliance. It is about respect for Earth, its natural systems and each other. It is about understanding and working with Nature. It is restorative, cyclic, and regenerative. It is about qualitative growth, not quantitative growth, about growing better not bigger.

Topics will include energy, environment, economy, and community issues and sustainable solutions. Many other topics touch on each of these major issues. Food is one of these. Food is all about energy, the environment, the economy, and our agricultural culture and is critically important. The list could have been food, shelter, clothing, energy, and community and all these will be addressed.

Feel free to use this information and provide ideas and discussions.

Thanks for participating,

Tom Barrett
